Chronic Illness & Family Support

Living with illness, or caring for someone close to you, can change far more than your daily schedule. You may be carrying uncertainty, family responsibilities, and feelings that are difficult to share with the people around you.

I offer personal written support for individuals and family members facing chronic illness, cancer, or other serious health challenges. There is room to speak about your own experience without needing to stay positive or protect everyone else from how you feel.

Together, we can explore an everyday concern, clarify what support you need, and consider a manageable next step. This might involve asking for practical help, preparing a family conversation, or making room for your own needs alongside other responsibilities.

All support takes place in writing, in English, Spanish, or French. This is personal support and practical guidance, not medical advice, psychotherapy, or emergency care.

Support for the Person Behind the Responsibilities

Perhaps you feel overwhelmed by requests for updates, unsure how to accept help, or worn down by trying to keep everything going. You can bring one concern into our conversation without having to explain every part of the medical situation.

We can reflect on what matters most to you, prepare words for a difficult conversation, and consider which responsibilities could be shared or simplified. If you are a caregiver, your own experience deserves attention too.

Our conversation respects your circumstances and choices. Medical questions and treatment decisions remain with you and your healthcare team.

Questions About Illness & Family Support

Can I reach out if I am the person who is ill?

Yes. You can write about the effect illness is having on your everyday life, relationships, responsibilities, or sense of self. You do not need to make your message encouraging or reassuring for someone else.

Can I reach out as a spouse, relative, or caregiver?

Yes. The conversation can focus on your experience of supporting someone, communicating with family, asking for help, or managing competing responsibilities. You do not have to speak on behalf of the person who is ill.

Is this support only for cancer?

No. You can ask about personal support around chronic illness, cancer, or another serious health condition. The focus is on your emotional and everyday experience, rather than the medical management of a particular diagnosis.

Can you help me explain what I need to other people?

Yes. We can prepare a message or conversation that communicates your needs clearly. This might include asking for specific help, setting boundaries around visits or updates, or explaining that you need someone to listen.

Do I need to send medical records?

No. A brief description of your circumstances is enough to begin. Please avoid sending medical records or unnecessary identifying information. I do not interpret test results, recommend treatments or supplements, or provide medical opinions.

Can this replace professional care?

No. Continue working with your healthcare team and any mental health professionals involved in your care. This service offers additional personal support. Messages are not monitored continuously; urgent medical or safety concerns require immediate help from the appropriate local services.
